Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Buyme.lk. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Buyme.lk website, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By accessing, registering, browsing, or posting an advertisement on Buyme.lk, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions, you must not use the Platform.


1. The Role of Buyme.lk

  1. Intermediary Platform: Buyme.lk acts exclusively as a digital platform or venue that allows users to offer, sell, and buy goods and services.
  2. No Agency: We are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We do not act as an agent, broker, or dealer for any user.
  3. No Guarantee: Buyme.lk does not control, verify, or guarantee the existence, quality, safety, or legality of items advertised, the truth or accuracy of user content or listings, the ability of sellers to sell items or the ability of buyers to pay for items.

2. User Eligibility and Accounts

  1. Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or use this Platform. By using Buyme.lk, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.
  2. Account Security: If you register, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You are entirely responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
  3. Accurate Information: You agree to provide true, accurate, current, and complete information during registration and when communicating with other users.

3. Rules for Posting Advertisements

When posting an ad on Buyme.lk, you agree to adhere to the following rules:

  1. Accuracy: All items and services must be accurately described. Misleading titles, descriptions, or images are strictly prohibited.
  2. Categorization: Ads must be placed in the most appropriate category.
  3. Duplication: Users may not post identical or substantially similar ads in multiple categories. Spamming the platform with duplicate ads is prohibited.
  4. Language: Ads should be in English, Sinhala, or Tamil.
  5. Expiration: Ads will remain active on the site for a predetermined period, after which they will automatically expire unless renewed.

4. Prohibited Content and Items

You agree not to post any content or items that are illegal, offensive, or violate the rights of others. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:

  • Narcotics, illicit drugs, and related paraphernalia.
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, and dangerous weapons.
  • Stolen goods, counterfeit items, or replicas infringing on copyright/trademarks.
  • Endangered wildlife, protected plants, and related products (in violation of Sri Lankan flora and fauna laws).
  • Adult content, pornography, or escort/prostitution services.
  • Fraudulent schemes, pyramid selling, or multi-level marketing (MLM) opportunities.

Buyme.lk reserves the right to remove any listing and suspend the account of any user violating these rules, without prior notice or refund.


5. Fees and Premium Services

  1. Free Listings: Basic ad posting on Buyme.lk is generally free, subject to category type.
  2. Paid Services: We offer premium services such as "Top Ads," "Visibility Upgrades," and business memberships. By selecting a paid service, you agree to pay the stated fees.
  3. Non-Refundable: All fees paid for premium ad placements or subscriptions are non-refundable, even if your ad is removed by us for violating these Terms.
  4. Price Changes: We reserve the right to modify our fee structure at any time. Notice of changes will be posted on the Platform.

6. User Conduct

While using Buyme.lk, you agree NOT to:

  • Violate any laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
  • Extract or scrape data from the Platform using automated bots, spiders, or crawlers.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users or Buyme.lk staff.
  • Distribute viruses, malicious code, or any technologies that may harm Buyme.lk.
  • Bypass any measures used to prevent or restrict access to the Platform.

7. Intellectual Property Rights

  1. Buyme.lk IP: All content, design, logos, software, and databases on the Platform are the exclusive property of Buyme.lk.
  2. User Content License: By uploading content, you grant Buyme.lk a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display your content.
  3. Copyright Infringement: If you believe your rights have been infringed, please contact us immediately with proof of ownership.

8. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. By using Buyme.lk, you consent to the collection and use of your personal data as outlined in our Privacy Policy and in compliance with the Sri Lankan Personal Data Protection Act.


9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Buyme.lk shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Platform or any transactions between you and another user.


10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Buyme.lk from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your use of the Platform or your violation of these Terms.


11. Right to Terminate

Buyme.lk reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, or terminate your account or remove your listings at any time, for any reason, without notice or liability.


12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Sri Lanka.


13. Modification of these Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the Platform. Your continued use of Buyme.lk constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
